5 Vampy Winter Lipstick Colours

Winter is perfect for experimenting with darker lip colours and channelling your inner vamp. From rich burgundies to deep plums, there are endless options to choose from when trying to find the perfect winter lipstick.

To help you narrow your search, I’ve created a list of my five current favourite vampy shades for the season. Most of them are liquid lipsticks for ultra-long wear time – don’t forget to exfoliate and moisturise your lips beforehand!

Why Change to Winter Lipstick Shades?

Seasonal lipstick shades are a fun and versatile way to switch up your makeup look throughout the year. During spring and summer, embrace vibrant hues like coral, fuchsia, and peach to complement the cheerful atmosphere and blooming flowers.

As fall arrives, opt for warm, rich shades such as burgundy, deep plum, and burnt orange to capture the cozy ambience and autumnal vibes.

In winter, embrace the enchanting spirit with bold reds and deeper berry tones that add a touch of glamour to your holiday festivities. From bright and playful to sultry and sophisticated, exploring seasonal lipstick shades allows you to express your unique style and embrace the beauty of each season.

Lime Crime Wicked

This was my first Lime Crime purchase, and I don’t regret it! Lime Crime Wicked is a gorgeous deep burgundy long-wearing matte lipstick. The formula is super pigmented and really locks into place once dry. I did notice that Wicked dried down a little bit darker compared to how it looks wet – but that’s perfect for a vampy, dramatic look! It also doesn’t dry out your lips, so you won’t have to worry about uncomfortable chapped lips.

Plus, this lipstick formula does wonders for staying power! It’s tough to get it off if you don’t use a cleansing oil, though, so I recommend one for gentle, effective makeup removal.

The only traditional lipstick of the lot! Let me tell you about this perfect winter lipstick. The packaging I have here is a little different because I purchased it when the iconic Rocky Horror Collection was released, but the product inside is still the same as what you’d buy from MAC now. This MAC Sin, combined with MAC Nightmoth lipliner pencil, creates a KILLER vampy lip look. Trust me on this one!

This lipstick is super opaque in one swipe, providing full coverage and intense pigmentation. It’s the perfect choice for someone looking to express themselves with a bold lip colour that shines in the right light.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Copenhagen

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are my favourite liquid lipstick formula; they’re reliable and easy to apply. Unlike competitors, this formula is less opaque and easier to control in a single swipe – ideal for newbies who are intimidated by pigmented, opaque and fast-drying formulas.

I will say, if you want to get the most out of NYX Copenhagen, applying lip liner before hand is a must due to its light and mousse-y formula. Unfortunately, it’s also not as long-wearing as other shades in the lineup.

ColourPop LAX

The darkest of the bunch, ColourPop LAX has a highly pigmented formula that requires the utmost care when applying, as its thin consistency can sometimes prove temperamental. W

While it may take a few layers to get even coverage, the results are truly stunning, especially when paired with a matching lip liner. Not only is LAX beautiful, it’s also impressively long-lasting and lightweight, making it perfect for a night out. And with ColourPop’s vast range of liquid lipsticks, you’ll have no trouble finding your ideal shade.

Australis Buda-Pash

I’m a big fan of the Australis Velourlips formula! It’s between a liquid and a mousse and drys down to a true matte finish. The Velourlips lipsticks also smell like candy. They’re incredible for the price – long-wearing, pigmented, and they have such a huge range of shades. However, when you look at the swatch, you’ll see that Buda-Pash looks incredibly similar to Lime Crime Wicked!

When it comes to dark vampy lipsticks, there’s a shade out there for everyone. From deep berries to sultry plums, endless options fit any style or occasion. But if you’re looking for a truly bold and dramatic look, these five lipsticks are sure to turn heads and make a powerful statement. So embrace your inner vamp and try out one (or all!) of these gorgeous shades for yourself!
