Today, I’m excited to write about a new NZ skincare brand – Frula Beauty. I was given a chance to try their full range of products and tell you exactly what I think about them. The line features five PETA-approved skincare formulas and super-soft makeup removal pads to create the foundation of a nurturing, effective skincare routine that you can shop at the supermarket.

Compensation for this post was provided by Frula Beauty. Opinions expressed here are my own.

What is Frula Beauty?

So, what’s the story behind Frula Beauty? Firstly, the name comes from a portmanteau of fruit and formula, highlighting the plant-based origins of this NZ skincare brand.

The emphasis on natural yet effective ingredients comes as no surprise when you look at the ingredient lists of these products. Not only are these skincare products NZ-made, but Frula Beauty is the first Aloe Vera-based beauty brand in NZ.

These products are full of plant-based ingredients, including Kawakawa and Kakadu Plum. This NZ skincare brand is suitable for all skin types thanks to gentle formulas that won’t strip or irritate the skin. I know what you’re thinking – surely these products will cost a pretty penny?

Nope – this is an affordable NZ skincare brand you can find at your local supermarket!

Not only that, each formula is cruelty-free and dermatologist-approved, plus the packaging is made of entirely recyclable components. Impressive, right? I think that NZ skincare has had a serious refresh now that Frula Beauty is on the scene!

So, why has the focus been on Aloe Vera as the star ingredient? Here’s a quick explainer of what makes this such a fantastic skincare ingredient.

What Are the Benefits of Aloe Vera for Skin?

Aloe vera is a superstar skincare ingredient for so many reasons! Most of us only think of using aloe vera on the skin after a sunburn or irritation, but the truth is, it’s something you should consider using in your routine every day.

One reason that I like aloe vera skincare is that it’s an excellent skin hydrator. My approach to skin is that you can never have too much hydration! Aloe vera works on the skin as a humectant, attracting water to itself as it sinks into your skin. This increases your skin’s water content, repairing your moisture barrier and warding off irritation.

It’s also incredibly soothing to the skin, helping to reduce redness for healthy, resilient skin – so it’s only natural that the Frula team made this their star ingredient in this NZ skincare line!

Frula Beauty: NZ Skincare Review

I’ve been lucky enough to receive the full Frula skincare line to try. Here are my thoughts on each product and my tips for using them in your skincare routine.

Frula Beauty Reusable Face Cleansing Pads

RRP $15.00 NZD

These incredibly soft microfibre cleansing pads are designed to be used with micellar water, but I’ve found the Frula Beauty Reusable Face Cleansing Pads useful for more than just makeup removal! I’ve been reaching for these after I use a clay mask to wash it off quickly and easily. Compared to typical washcloths, they’re super soft on the skin!

Frula Beauty 3 Phase Micellar Cleansing Water

RRP $13.00 NZD

I’m usually a cleansing oil fan for full-face makeup removal, but the Frula Beauty 3 Phase Micellar Water is perfect for using on a q-tip to tidy up makeup application and create sharp lines. It’s a huge bottle, and a little goes a long way – so this will last me for ages!

Frula Beauty 3 Phase Micellar Cleansing Water Ingredients:
Aqua (Filtered Water), Glycerine, Decyl Glucoside, Pentylene Glycol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Terminalia ferdinandiana Fruit Extract (Kakadu Plum), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Bark Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid

Frula Beauty Superfood 2-in-1 Exfoliator & Mask

RRP $20.00 NZD

The truth is, I’m the kind of person that rarely picks up facial scrubs, especially now that I’ve been a long-time Retin-A user. All too often, I find that the average facial scrub is just too irritating and exfoliating on my skin, so I was a little apprehensive about trying the Frula Beauty Superfood 2-in-1 Exfoliator and Mask

However, I was pleasantly surprised – I found the formula has just the right level of exfoliation without leaving my skin feeling irritated. What I like about it is that it’s not a super densely-packed facial scrub – you can easily dilute it with water to create an exfoliating experience that leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.

Frula Beauty Superfood 2-in-1 Exfoliator & Mask Ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Maltodextrin, Kaolin, Prunus amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) oil, Glycerine, Cetearyl, Alcohol Cetearyl, Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Rosa rubiginosa (Rosehip) oil, organic, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) seed powder, Juglans Regia (Shell) powder, Natural Walnut Shell, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) oil, organic, Aqua & Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract & Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract & Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract & Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract & Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Sodium Citrate, Xanthan Gum, Mica (CI 77019), Iron Oxide (CI 77491), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, fragrance, Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool

Frula Beauty Super Hydrating Moisturiser

RRP $20.00 NZD

I also found the Frula Super Hydrating Moisturiser really impressive for my skin type! I have oily skin, so in the daytime, I don’t always go for a thick creamy moisturiser; I leave those for nighttime use. Despite the thick and creamy texture, this absorbs to a soft matte finish, perfect for layering under sunscreen.

Frula Beauty Super Hydrating Moisturiser Ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycerine, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) oil, Rosa rubiginosa (Rosehip) oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) oil, Macropiper excelsum (Kawakawa) leaves, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sclerocarya birrea (Marula) Seed Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) seed oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool

Frula Beauty Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser

RRP $17.00 NZD

This is now my go-to morning cleanser! I have been so wary of foaming cleansers for a long time, but this one is just so pleasant to use. The Frula Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or dry, and it has the perfect texture for gently cleansing skin in the morning.

Frula Beauty Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser Ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Decyl Glucoside, Glycerine, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Limonene, Linalool

Frula Beauty Brightening Vitamin C Serum

RRP $25.00 NZD

I enjoy this serum for the kind of Vitamin C it has, plus the fact that it has Squalane. My favourite way to use this is actually by adding a pump of it to moisturiser before applying it to my skin. Frula Beauty Brightening Vitamin C is great to do this technique with, as the Vitamin C in the formula doesn’t depend on a specific pH. Plus, it’s an easy way to make sure I’ve got antioxidants in my morning routine.

Frula Beauty Brightening Vitamin C Serum Ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerine, Aqua (Filtered Water), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Squalane (Olive) Extract, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Sodium Citrate, Sclerotium Gum & Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool
