Mucin is a fancy word for slime, by the way. It’s the key ingredient in Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 + Peptide Essence!
I know what you’re thinking. This sounds downright gross. Why would anyone want to put snail slime on their skin?
Studies have found that snail mucin is beneficial for skin; it helps with wound healing, supports the moisture barrier, and even kills acne-causing bacteria. That all sounds amazing – and if you didn’t know it came from snails, wouldn’t you want to use it?
These skincare benefits are why it’s the star ingredient in Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 + Peptide Essence. I was sent a bottle of this to review, and now I’m ready to share my thoughts on this product!
Why Snail Slime for Skin?
This isn’t my first time to try an ‘out there’ skincare product. My first foray with snail slime in my skincare routine dates back to 10 years ago (or maybe a little more) with the Benton Snail Bee Essence. At the time I remember this was an absolutely SHOCKING kind of ingredient – but the results really spoke for themselves. One thing I remember distinctly was how soothing it was on my skin, in a way that even aloe vera can’t stand up to.
So, when Jumiso offered to send me their Snail Mucin + Peptide Essence I was so excited to give it a go. I haven’t been impressed with any snail mucin products for a long time, so I thought what better way to jump back in to it!
Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 + Peptide Essence: Full Review
This is a very generously sized essence at 140ml. It has a gel texture which you can see through the packaging that has the signature snaily texture. It doesn’t have any discernable scent which I know a lot of you will appreciate, and I do too.
It absorbs in very easily, I usually use 2 pumps and tend to pat it in until fully absorbed. It will feel slightly tacky when fully absorbed, which I use as a sign that I’m ready to move to the next step in my skincare routine – which is usually rosehip oil.
The Jumiso essence claims to lend a LOT of benefits, specifically regarding sun damage and skin rejuvenation thanks to the mix of peptides and snail mucin. While the peptides lend a welcome boost, I’m not sure I saw these specific benefits over the months I finished this bottle of product.
Would I buy it again?
It’s a lovely essence and I did enjoy the 2 bottles I received from the brand! However, there are a lot of essences that I’d love to try in place of this one. It’s one that your skin will definitely enjoy, especially if you have sensitive skin!
