Easy Nail Art for Summer: Holographic Purple Lightning Bolts

As the temperatures rise, I’ve got a great nail art idea for summer today! I thought I would get creative with some nail vinyls since I haven’t used any for SO long! Nail vinyls* are a great way to do easy nail art at home. They help you get sharp lines between shades and so many different shapes—just make sure that the color you’re sticking them over is FULLY dry before putting the nail vinyl on. This is really simple nail art that anyone can do—including you, sis!

The two colours I used for this super simple nail art look are are Colors by Llarowe My Own Private Paradise and China Glaze That’s Shore Bright. They’re very similar in tone except for the fact that MOPP is holographic, and together they create a really nice, subtle look in indirect sunlight. Unfortunately, I think both of these colors are discontinued—this purple holographic nail polish* looks the most similar to My Own Private Paradise, but unfortunately I can’t find anything that holds a candle to That’s Shore Bright!

But when you bring out the sun… BAM!

Look at that holo flame! For some reason, That’s Shore Bright took on a slightly cooler purple hue on my ring finger in comparison to all of my other nails — not sure if it’s a result of the top coat I used (Sally Hansen Big Shiny*) or if it’s because it was painted over a holo, but either way I like it!

Have you tried nail vinyls before? What did you think of this easy way to do simple nail art?
