Hey Girlies!

Today, I have swatches of lipsticks from the HIGHLY anticipated Rocky Horror Picture Show X MAC collection: Sin, Frank-N-Furter, Oblivion, and Strange Journey.

From L-R: Sin, Oblivion, Frank-N-Furter, Strange Journey. I managed to pick up all of these directly from the US when they launched.

Frank-N-Furter is an my easy favorite of the collection, however the rest of the three are not far behind. I’d describe it as a cool, slightly berry red. MAC describes it as a “deep raspberry wine”. I think this description implies it would have been darker than it really is, but I quite like it like this.

Strange Journey is described as a “yellowish brick red”. It’s a nice, orangey-red. It applies very nicely. At first I was unsure about how flattering this would be on me – however, I think because it just toes the line of red and orange, it suits me without going in to full-orange territory a la MAC Morange.

Oblivion. Described on the MAC site as a “vivid blushred”. It’s a bright, cool red. To be honest, when I swatched this on my arm, I immediately wanted to destash it. I thought it was too slippery and not matte enough for me to like it; it has Amplified formula, rather than the matte formula of the other lipsticks in this collection.  However, that opinion changed as soon as I wore it on my lips. It has a unique, candied apple quality to the color that I can’t get enough of.

And the vamp of the collection – Sin. Sin is actually a permanent color, however I just couldn’t resist it in LE packaging. Like a lot of other bloggers, I found this to be the most matte and stiffest of the bunch. However, it makes a KILLER vampy lip when combined with MAC Nightmoth lip pencil. The MAC website describes it as a “deep dark blue red”. It seems a little brown-toned on me in some lights, but I can get behind that.

From L-R: Sin, Frank-N-Furter, Strange Journey, Oblivion. Strange Journey looks very orange when viewed with the other shades, but it looks much redder when viewed with a full face of makeup.

So there you have it! I hope my swatches were helpful for you. I do apologize for the relative lightness of text in comparison to photos- feeling a little overwhelmed with some life stuff this week.
